Empowering Americans to Live Free.

Attorney General Edwin Meese

Attorney General Edwin Meese III, ACRU Director

“As Attorney General in the Reagan Administration, I committed myself to conserving and expanding freedom. It was my position that our Constitution, its text, and the original intention behind it, demanded nothing less. To argue otherwise would be to risk, as Abraham Lincoln said, “blowing out the moral lights around us.”

That’s why I’ve, again, taken up my sword in defense of our Constitution and am fighting a very real and present danger to our nation. I serve on the board of an efficient and important organization, the American Constitutional Rights Union. I believe strongly that partnered with ACRU we have a real chance to preserve the freedoms and liberties we hold dear.”

Defenders of the Constitution: Standing with Those Who Stand for the Law

By |October 22nd, 2025|

I am proud to highlight our Defenders Initiative—a nationwide effort to assist, encourage, and recognize sheriffs and law enforcement officers who faithfully honor their constitutional oath to protect and serve. In an era when the rule of law is often challenged, and when the leftist ACLU is trying to intimidate local law enforcement and local officials, we proudly come alongside these men and women who stand as guardians of public safety and defenders of the Constitution.

It’s Constitution Day

By |September 17th, 2025|

Commemorating Constitution Day recognizes the formal completion of the Constitution of the United States on September 17, 1787, when 39 Constitutional Convention delegates signed the document. Over the next nine months, states worked to ratify the Constitution, with the nine necessary states making it official on June 21, 1788, with New Hampshire’s approval. By May 29, 1790, all 13 states had ratified the guiding principles for the new government.

What is Election Day?

By |June 10th, 2026|

When ballots keep appearing for a week after the polls close, what does "Election Day" even mean? Allen West on California’s endless counting, the "margin of cheating," and why the ACRU is backing a Supreme Court case to give elections a hard deadline.

Military Service is a Privilege, not a Constitutional Right

By |June 3rd, 2026|

A D.C. Circuit panel just ruled that the transgender military ban likely violates equal protection. Allen West argues they have it exactly backward: serving in uniform was never a constitutional right. It's a privilege, and military readiness, not ideology, decides who earns it.

If We Care About Lawfare, Start With the DEI and Woke Requirements Being Imposed by State Judge Pickers

By |December 6th, 2025|

The Left’s relentless campaign of woke lawfare has been on my mind recently. As I wrote this fall in these very pages, “we are in the midst of a wave of lawfare against anything that resists the Left: the Trump Administration, industries that have refused to bend the knee to progressive policy preferences, and individuals who dare disagree or speak up against the Left’s worldview.”

Quote of the Day

The NAACP stands for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. But how many of you knew that the NAACP was founded by white progressives (code name for communists) Mary White Ovington, Oswald Garrison Villard, William English Walding, and Dr. Henry Moskowitz? Sure, we are taught that WEB DuBois was a founder, but he was made the face of the organization. DuBois was part of the Black intelligentsia elite, a socialist himself, who in later years would dine with Mao Tse Tung, renounce his American citizenship and fully declare his communist beliefs. The NAACP was actually established as a counter to the work and principles of my philosophical mentor, Booker T. Washington. Washington’s work in establishing Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute was grounded in the principles of education, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance. Washington was instrumental in the formation of the Negro Business League, which spawned the economic success of the Black community, even in the face of Democrat Jim Crow and segregation policies.

ACRU Live Free TV

  • In this episode of Live Free TV, Colonel West cuts through the commercialization and brings you back to what this weekend actually means. He walks you onto the hallowed ground of Lexington Green, April 19, 1775, where 77 Sons of Liberty faced down a British regiment of nearly 1,000. He reads the names of the first eight Americans who fell there, men with wives, children under five, brothers fighting beside them, and tells their stories one by one.

LIVE FREE LOCAL

Live Free Local

Are you frustrated with the slow pace of movement in Washington? You write, you call, and you email, but things never seem to change. Part of the reason for that is that Washington politics are far removed from you — the real base of power.

The phrase, “All politics is local,” carries a lot more weight than one might think. In the Founders’ view of our Constitutional Republic, the ultimate power rests at the most local level possible — the individual citizen. Our Constitution is carefully designed to enumerate powers we voluntarily cede to the government in a descending fashion, starting with the individual and ending with the federal government. That’s right. The real power in our country rests with the individual and then the local and state representatives they elect.

This is why the American Constitutional Rights Union started the Live Free Local initiative. Our aim is to embrace local politics and arm you with the tools to make a difference in your community and state.

The Truth About Jim Crow

As the Left shamelessly schemes to prevent election integrity measures in state legislatures and abolish them with a federal power grab (H.R. 1/S. 1), their propaganda includes references to Jim Crow laws of the past. ACRU educated the public on this issue some years ago in our publication “The Truth About Jim Crow.”

We encourage you to download this important publication and share with others. It is important to remember the history of Jim Crow and to know that it has nothing to do with present day voting integrity laws. We all should agree that it should be easy to vote and hard to cheat.
