The Second Amendment
“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”
As Founding Father George Mason observed, “To disarm the people s the most effectual way to enslave them.”
The Second Amendment is an inalienable right for every American. Perhaps its most important clause is “shall not be infringed.”
Yet liberals never seem to lose the energy to try and deprive their fellow citizens of their foundational right to gun ownership. The Constitution is blind to whether a citizen owns a firearm for sport, hobby, hunting or personal defense, and the left is blind to the importance of this freedom.
Whether they try to tax them, ban them, or villainize them, liberals continually attempt to separate firearms from the hands of lawful gun owners while turning their backs on steps that would remove unlawful firearms from the hands of criminals.
January 2021 brought a new round of unconstitutional anti-gun legislation to Congress. These liberal-sponsored bills, if passed would impose unsustainable costs and requirements on gun owners, remove any privacy for citizens with firearms, render weapons kept for home and self defense useless, and in the case of “red flag laws,” remove the presumption of innocent until proven guilty.
History has shown that one of the first acts of a tyrannical government is to remove firearms from the populace. The Second Amendment is a right that guarantees the continuation of all other rights. American citizens with firearms are indeed “necessary to the security of the free state.”
American Constitutional Rights Union is dedicated to the full defense of the Second Amendment without equivocation or conditions.
