U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement removed Josseth Santos-Fonseca, a 30-year-old Costa Rican citizen, to his home country where he faces drug trafficking charges. Santos had entered the United States illegally near Laredo, Texas in 2018 and was apprehended by Border Patrol before being ordered removed by an immigration judge. His removal was subsequently carried out after Costa Rican authorities sought his return to face prosecution.

Sushil Kumar, a 35-year-old Indian national residing in Santa Rosa, California, was sentenced to six months in federal prison for conspiring to smuggle undocumented immigrants across the northern U.S. border for profit. The scheme involved coordinating with accomplices to smuggle Indian citizens across the Washington state border in November and December 2023, with each individual charged between $5,000 and $10,000 for the service. The investigation was conducted jointly by ICE's Homeland Security Investigations division and U.S. Border Patrol.
