Indian man residing in California sentenced to prison for scheme to smuggle aliens into the US, following ICE, USBP investigation

Sushil Kumar, a 35-year-old Indian national residing in Santa Rosa, California, was sentenced to six months in federal prison for conspiring to smuggle undocumented immigrants across the northern U.S. border for profit. The scheme involved coordinating with accomplices to smuggle Indian citizens across the Washington state border in November and December 2023, with each individual charged between $5,000 and $10,000 for the service. The investigation was conducted jointly by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations division and U.S. Border Patrol.
