“Americans will always do the right thing, after they have exhausted all other alternatives” — Sir Winston Churchill

I remember growing up as a little boy and being rather inquisitive about certain things. One day, down at my paternal Granddad’s house in Cuthbert (Randolph County), Georgia, I wanted to know how electricity worked. My Dad, the ol’ World War II Army Corporal Herman “Buck” West and my Granddad Jule were sitting there in the small living room. I had found a small hairpin and decided I would stick it into a socket.

Dad looked at me and asked, “Boy, what are you doing?” I responded that I wanted to see how electricity worked. Granddaddy laughed, and Dad said “Boy, you shouldn’t do that.” I went ahead. Next thing I remember was being knocked back, and my fingers were burned with the marks of the hairpin. Granddaddy Jule was busting his gut laughing so hard, and Buck West simply said, “I guess you know how electricity works now.”

Nope, I was not taken to a hospital. I was told to stop crying because I had made the decision to do something dumb, something that I had been advised not to do. And so it is with many of us who have gone and done dumb things and suffered the imminent consequences thereof. We, now as parents, have advised our kids not to touch the hot stove or various other rudimentary perils that they face, which could bring harm.

The Marxism Hot Stove

But, somewhere along the way, we as adults have failed in warning our children about the dangers of certain political philosophies…namely Marxism, socialism, communism, and Islamo-fascism.

The aforementioned quote by Sir Winston Churchill kinda alludes to the typical American shortcoming. You can tell us not to go down a certain path, yet we will. Yes, I do believe that experience is a great teacher, but it is also unwise to choose a dangerous path knowingly.

And so it is, we here in America find ourselves dancing with a very dangerous devil by the pale moonlight. How did we get to this point where we have mainstreamed ideologies and philosophies that are inconsistent and antithetical to our very fundamental principles and values? Normally, we do not pay great attention to the “off-cycle” November elections; this cycle is different. There are several electoral contests that are relevant to our touching the hot stove.

New York…

The New York City Mayoral race is getting quite a bit of attention because it by far represents the greatest evidence of the growing Red-Green Alliance between Marxism and Islamo-fascism/jihadism. Who would have ever thought that what could be deemed as one of the greatest and most popular cities in the world, the victim of an Islamic jihadist attack, would see itself led by a jihadist sympathizer? Zohran Mamdani’s past is telling about who he is, not his calling out “Omaha” as an audible with corrected rhetoric. Considering that New York City is viewed as the financial capital of the world, Mamdani quotes Karl Marx with eloquence.

As we approach the 250th anniversary of these United States of America, consider the fact that the Declaration of Independence was read in an open forum to Soldiers of the newly formed Continental Army as they prepared the defense of New York City, Brooklyn, and Long Island in July of 1776. New York City was once the capital of America, and it is the place where our first President, George Washington, was sworn in.

Just as I stuck that hairpin into the socket, New York City is about to get a jolt in finding out how leftism works.

New Jersey

Across the water in New Jersey, there is a gubernatorial race between Republican Jack Ciattarelli and Democrat Rep. Mikie Sherrill. I served in the US Army for 22 years, and am happy to have anyone review my military records. Why is it that leftists are in an apoplectic frenzy and meltdown over the records of Rep. Sherrill being public? It appears that Rep. Sherrill may have a connection to a cheating scandal at the US Naval Academy.

When I think about New Jersey and our history, I harken back to the brave crossing of the frozen Delaware River by Washington and his troops on Christmas Eve, December 1776. Some of those men were without proper footwear, and we are told that you could follow the trail of the Continental Army by the blood in the snow. Yet, they braved the elements and routed the Hessians at Trenton, and they then went on to defeat the British at Princeton, liberating New Jersey.

Perhaps, just maybe, the folks in New Jersey will refuse to touch the hot stove in memory of those impeccable men who sacrificed so much. And maybe New Jersey citizens will remember that Sherrill refused to condemn those who honored the death of someone who murdered a New Jersey State Trooper.

Virginia

Virginia, the home of great men who set the foundation of our Constitutional Republic, George Washington (1st U.S. President), Thomas Jefferson (author of the Declaration of Independence, 3rd US President), and James Madison (author of the US Constitution, 4th US President), is already in early voting for its gubernatorial election.

There we have the current Virginia Lieutenant Governor, Winsome Earle-Sears, and Democrat Rep. Abigail Spanberger. Rep. Spanberger does not share the same philosophy of governance as those astute men who gave us the foundation for the longest-running constitutional Republic the world has known. Lt. Gov. Sears is a Marine who has served her Nation with honor and distinction in the tradition of the motto “Semper Fidelis” (Always Faithful).

There is no reason for America to touch the hot stove of Marxism and Islamo-fascism. These ideologies have proven time and time again to be utter failures. Churchill stated that socialism is a “philosophy of failure.” As a young Army officer, I visited East Berlin and saw what happens when people touch the hot stove of Marxism. I saw rent-controlled housing and free transportation. It sucks!

Let’s just do the right thing without the experimentation of trying alternatives.

Steadfast and Loyal.
