It was a lesson learned on April 19, 1775, when the British were marching inland from Boston Harbor to Concord, Massachusetts. The objective was to destroy a weapons and armaments factory supporting and providing arms to the Sons of Liberty. As the tyranny of King George III marched, they came upon a place called Lexington Green, where the “shot heard ’round the world” was fired. The British were never able to destroy the weapons and munitions factory, and we met again at a place called Concord bridge.

The importance of that day resonates to today in that our founders realized that an armed individual is a citizen and a disarmed individual is a subject. So, they codified in our individual Bill of Rights these words, “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Pretty simple and understandable verbiage I would say. There’s not much left to interpretation, unless you are a progressive, socialist, statist, Marxist, or communist seeking totalitarian control.

Throughout history we have witnessed — most recently in Venezuela — that suspension of full elimination of private gun ownership is the vital key for tyrannical control. Our Founding Fathers understood that and created the Second Amendment in the US Constitution as the obstacle to tyranny. However, I must grant credit to the progressive socialist left in America . . . They remain undeterred in their commitment to do as all seeking power, control, and domination over a free people do: disarm them.

The recent shooting at Club Q, an LGBTQ+ venue, in Colorado Springs has once again evidenced the premise of “never let a good crisis go to waste.” There in Colorado, the leftist controlled legislature is looking at increased gun control measures. This includes expanding the infamous and unconstitutional “red flag laws.” Funny, why is it that in a state with abhorrent gun control laws, nutcases continue to shoot innocent people? Perhaps it is because the Club Q shooter refers to himself as non-binary. I do not play the gender dysphoria game.

The grocery store shooter in Boulder was on the watch list of the FBI, and his background was Islamic. I guess if you are not what the left wants as a shooter, then no one reports you, as we saw with Syed Farouk and Tashfeen Malik, the San Bernadino Christmas mass shooters.

But now, Gov. Polis of Colorado wants to expand those who report citizens under red flag laws from family members and law enforcement to include the AG office, District Attorneys, and teachers to request unconstitutional seizures of law abiding, legal gun owners’ firearms. This is a clear violation of due process.

Once again, we hear the rantings about banning assault weapons. Well, anything used to assault another individual is an assault weapon. Just ask the person in NYC who was recently assaulted with a baseball bat . . . no more Major League Baseball, huh? And, the rhetoric about people owning weapons of war? Does that mean my Samurai sword and German Cavalry sword have to be confiscated, certainly my World War I Colt revolver is done.

It is not just this absurdity in Colorado. Here in Texas, Michael Cargill brought suit against the ATF for their violation of the 1968 Gun Control Act. They are now seeking to revoke licenses of federal firearms certified individuals for clerical errors on BATF Form 4473, calling it willful and intentional.

The left is relentless on murdering unborn babies in the womb by dismemberment and hoping to impose their will upon a disarmed American populace. There was a recent Twitter post by a leftist who wanted all “climate deniers” to be jailed.

We can ill afford to lose the American obstacle to totalitarianism. I hope the incoming GOP House majority will get the ATF under control by way of restricting funding when they seek to violate our constitutional rights.

Lastly, as long as the Biden administration keeps its open borders policy, threatening our safety and security and allowing in potential terrorists, we must be armed and able to defend ourselves and our Republic. Remember, just recently in Moore County NC, someone shot up power transformers, and 40,000 Americans are without power.
