ACRU lights a birthday candle to celebrate Citizens United decision

In 2009, ACRU issued an Amicus Brief urging the Supreme Court to find in favor of Citizens United and constitutional freedom in the case of Citizens United v. FEC. The case began in 2007 when a political movie about Hillary Clinton was blocked for distribution by liberal activists who didn't like the subject matter and used the McCain-Feingold Act as a battering ram. The Supreme Court correctly decided in favor of Citizens United by applying Constitutional free speech provisions to ensure a broader, more level playing field for American political activity. January 21, 2020 was the tenth anniversary of this landmark case, finalized in a 5-4 decision split along ideological lines with the more liberal justices on the Court arguing against free speech for any member of the public speaking through an entity. The framers of the Constitution made it clear that voters should fully briefed on both sides of any policy or political issue and at ACRU, we concur. We are grateful to Citizens United and David Bossie for bringing this critical Constitutional case before the Supreme Court of the United States.

No quarter for anti-semitism

The disturbing rise in anti-semitism in the U.S. is unacceptable, and at ACRU, we have no intention of ignoring it. Religious freedom is for all faiths and those who enjoy the freedom to worship walk together in its defense. Since the horrific Tree of Life Synagogue shooting in October 2018, the reporting of anti-semitic attacks in the media has notably increased. Some of these disgraceful attacks come in the form of public insults and slurs, and there are also numerous cases of stabbings (even inside a rabbi's home), assaults, harassment and vandalism. Many of these hate crimes occurred in New York City where its hoodlum class seem to be using anti-semitism as a new form of "wilding." We know our Advocate readers will join us in acknowledging this heinous trend and calling it out every time it is found.

Every day should be Religious Freedom Day in America

On January 16th, America celebrated National Religious Freedom Day. At ACRU, we list our Constitutional religious freedom where the Founders did-first. To commemorate the 1786 Virginia Statute of Religious Freedom authored by Thomas Jefferson, President Trump issued a proclamation honoring our nation's founding in religious freedom but noting "the fundamental right to religious freedom is under attack." In America, there is room for everyone's rights. Freedom to worship or not worship. Freedom to make whatever life choices one wants to make. What should never be accepted is the "freedom" of one group to oppress the freedoms of others. Gun owners win the day in Richmond

Despite efforts by Virginia Governor Ralph Northam to dishonestly paint lawful gun owners as lunatics and white supremacists, the truth won out in Virginia's capital on Monday, January 20th. Since taking over state government last November, Virginia Democrats have proposed no fewer than 87 gun ownership restrictions. Northam designated "rally square" as gun free, so gun owners cheerfully rallied on the streets outside the cordoned area-with their guns. Northam designated gun owners as a "threat"-so they cheerfully defended their rights with no negative incidents. Thanks to everyone who showed up to defend our freedom and proved once again that the safest place in America is beside a good guy or gal with a gun. Thanks to all the gun owning ladies and their signs noting, "Gun Rights are Women's Rights."

Keep your weapons at home: Virginia governor plans to ban guns from gun rights rally

After years of a significant demographic shift in northern Virginia (and some meddling by outsiders like Michael Bloomberg), Democrats took control of the House of Delegates and State Senate in November 2019 while Democrat Governor Ralph Northam (notorious for his statement that a mother should determine whether her baby lives or not after birth, and for escaping any consequence from his "black face" scandal) has set his sights (irony) on lawful gun owners as enemy number one. As January 20th Virginia Lobby Day approached, thousands of law abiding gun owners headed to Richmond to inform legislators about the Second Amendment. Northam then banned guns in the government areas of Richmond in a state with open carry. With Soros' funded Antifa on its way, Northam stripped the responsible and law abiding of defensive weapons, even with reports of potential bad guys (who don't obey laws) possibly in attendance. Virginia's governor, by tyrannical fiat, endangered his citizens by stripping rights he had no right to strip. The media? Crickets. Jefferson, Madison, Washington and Monroe must be collectively rolling in their patriotic graves.

Texas: Voter fraud requires forgery

Apply to register to vote in Texas and your application needs to have your original signature. Sounds reasonable? Not according to Democrats. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee have both sued the state claiming this is just downright unfair. Eric Holder, complaining bitterly about “gerrymandering” when Republicans do it, is floating $10 million in the state to make sure redistricting turns out in the Democrats’ favor. We have to wonder — how in the world do they get away with this stuff? Let’s not let them.

Kentucky: Voter fraud enablers are nearby

When Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams ran for office last year, he promised the citizens of the state that he would "make it easy to vote and hard to cheat.” Adams is supporting a Senate Bill requiring photo ID at the polls to prove you are really you and voting yourself. It also provides a free ID for anyone over 18 years old (voting age) who does not have a driver’s license. Now the association for Bluegrass State county clerks opposes the law. The Kentucky County Clerks Association was also busy in 2019 pushing Democrats into positions of critical importance at the State Board of Elections. One would think County officials would want to assure voters in their community that their legal votes would never be negated by an illegitimate one. Apparently in Kentucky, not so much. What is the position of your county clerk? Might be a good time to ask.

Nebraska: Voter fraud requires deceit

More than 35 states have passed requirements that voters present specific documentation or photo ID when voting. In near equal numbers, liberal activist judges have done their best to block enforcement of these statutes. Republicans in Nebraska are now trying to pass an amendment to the state Constitution that would require presentation of photo ID at the polls. Liberal groups are already calling it unnecessary and hollering that it would disenfranchise people without IDs. Except the state provides free photo IDs. So, once again, the anti-vote integrity crowd peddles disinformation about a law that should be acceptable to everyone who doesn’t want to cheat.

Minnesota: Voter fraud is local

The police in Marshall, Minnesota are investigating reports of voter fraud in the form of illegal registrations forwarded to them from the county attorney. There are only two incidents reported, but that’s not the point. State auditors or Secretaries of State usually identify discrepancies but often do not have investigative staff or authority to do on-the-ground research into vote violators. How does your county or local law enforcement handle reports of local voter fraud? Best to find out before November 3, 2020.

The left makes no census

2020. The Census. Conservatives and voter integrity advocates need to keep a keen eye on their own census forms and the census takers hired in their local communities. This piece from Michelle Malkin, although from last April, is the best commentary on potential problems we can find as 2020 Census forms begin to arrive in our mailboxes. Elected Democrats, the media and George Soros are already wallpapering the country with untruths about the Census, namely, that asking a person living in the United States whether he or she is a citizen is “racist.” Unfortunately, they won in the short term. What that means in practice, is that communities with a large number of foreign nationals, legal and illegal, can skew the result of the Census, and in turn, affect the balance of Congress by non-citizens.
