For years, liberals have told Americans they do not need guns because the police have guns. But now many leftists advocate defunding police altogether. This brings serious public policy questions. In Leftist Land, who exactly would have guns? And who is responsible for protecting Americans?
Cities continue to descend into leftist chaos while people are attacked in their homes and in restaurants. August 2020 gun sales rose 58% over August 2019 gun sales. Even in California, lawful citizen activists are demanding 2nd Amendment Sanctuary laws so that the law abiding can defend themselves against lawless masses who seem to be increasing in numbers on a daily basis.
For decades, Ninth Circuit Court leftist judges stood athwart Constitutional freedoms and yelled “stop!” Since President Trump replaced a third of its activist judges, its decisions have changed. This includes a recent pro-Second Amendment decision slapping down a magazine ban by California politicians. The “new 9th” has reminded California that its citizens are still protected by the federal Constitution.

We like to circle back to first principles at ACRU, and Ms. Nottrodt’s latest Washington Times letter on foundational property rights vs. anti-rule of law destructive Marxism is right on the money. Property rights rule no. 1? “Don’t touch other peoples’ stuff.”
With power vested in her by New York’s political leftists, NY AG Letitia James is suing the NRA for what she’s decided are too many executive “perks,” over which she has no authority. NRA has a Constitutional right to conduct business according to its by-laws, and its members have a right to complain if they don’t like it. But she wants to close down the NRA entirely, so it’s not about specific executives. We suspect her blatant attempt to discourage Second Amendment voters will be a gross misfire.
We love our veterans and we love this idea. In the past, the American Legion and other veterans groups participated in civics education for young people. Now that civics education has gone the way of the Dodo Bird in public schools, why not bring this mission back? Are you involved in a local AL or VFW post? Another liberal city is attempting to restrict the rights of its lawful, gun owning citizens to arm themselves in public. Although Virginia has a right to open carry law, the city of Newport News doesn’t want to honor it and will vote on a restrictive new law in mid-July. Gun grabbers learned that a national gun grab is too loud and obvious, so they chip away at the local level. Heads up; don’t let them.
In a June 4th letter to the Mayor of West Palm Beach, Florida, ACRU put the Honorable Keith James on official notice that he has no legal authority to suspend Second Amendment rights of his constituents and must immediately rescind his anti-Constitutional "emergency" edict banning the sales of firearms and ammunition.
Numerous reports abound from cities and counties that officers will not be sent to "non criminal" or "non violent" complaints due to fears of COVID-19 contagion. It begs a question we've never had to ask before-the balance between crime, personal safety and restricted policing policy. As we ponder this balance, the Second Amendment is still in the Constitution, every citizen still has a right to self protection, and we pray for safety of our first responders.
After years of a significant demographic shift in northern Virginia (and some meddling by outsiders like Michael Bloomberg), Democrats took control of the House of Delegates and State Senate in November 2019 while Democrat Governor Ralph Northam (notorious for his statement that a mother should determine whether her baby lives or not after birth, and for escaping any consequence from his "black face" scandal) has set his sights (irony) on lawful gun owners as enemy number one. As January 20th Virginia Lobby Day approached, thousands of law abiding gun owners headed to Richmond to inform legislators about the Second Amendment. Northam then banned guns in the government areas of Richmond in a state with open carry. With Soros' funded Antifa on its way, Northam stripped the responsible and law abiding of defensive weapons, even with reports of potential bad guys (who don't obey laws) possibly in attendance. Virginia's governor, by tyrannical fiat, endangered his citizens by stripping rights he had no right to strip. The media? Crickets. Jefferson, Madison, Washington and Monroe must be collectively rolling in their patriotic graves.
