U.S. and Brazilian authorities coordinated a major enforcement operation to dismantle a transnational smuggling network responsible for moving hundreds of individuals from Brazil through Mexico and into the United States. The operation resulted in the arrest of Flavio Alexandre Alves in Worcester, Massachusetts, who allegedly operated the smuggling conspiracy, while Brazilian Federal Police arrested an additional Brazil-based smuggler.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement apprehended Pierre Maurice Al-Asmar, a Lebanese national illegally present in the U.S., in Lakeville after he was charged with assault, battery, and indecent assault. Al-Asmar had lawfully entered the country but violated the terms of his admission.

A six-day ICE operation in the Boston area resulted in nearly 400 arrests, with over 200 individuals having serious criminal convictions or charges. Federal agents seized significant quantities of drugs and targeted members of criminal organizations including MS-13 and Tren de Aragua, despite Boston's sanctuary city status restricting local cooperation with immigration authorities.

During a six-day enhanced enforcement operation in March 2025, ICE and federal law enforcement partners apprehended 370 individuals across Massachusetts, focusing on transnational criminal organizations and gang members. Of those arrested, 205 had serious criminal convictions or charges, and agents seized significant quantities of drugs and firearms.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement apprehended an undocumented immigrant accused of fatally assaulting his pregnant wife in the presence of their young child. The case has drawn renewed attention to concerns about violent crimes committed by individuals in the country illegally.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement removed Lenaria Aparecida Pereira Sandoval, a Brazilian fugitive convicted of aggravated first-degree murder and desecration of a corpse, from Massachusetts to Brazil. Sandoval had been sentenced to 17 years in prison by a Brazilian court in September 2021 and arrested by ICE Boston in February 2023.
