According to federal prosecutors, he claimed to be former special forces and told store employees he could make pipe bombs before being arrested in Arizona the following day.

ICE Dallas removed Joaquin Gallegos, a 33-year-old Mexican citizen, on June 18 after arresting him during a targeted enforcement operation in Carlsbad, Texas. Gallegos was sought by Mexican authorities for his alleged involvement in a homicide, with an arrest warrant issued by Zacatecas law enforcement in December 2024. A Nigerian national and his American wife were sentenced to 15 and 10 years in prison respectively for operating a nationwide romance scam targeting vulnerable populations. The pair defrauded over 25 victims of more than $3 million through fake online relationships and fictitious business schemes. HSI Houston's investigation dismantled the operation, with the defendants ordered to pay full restitution and serve additional supervised release terms.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement coordinated with the Department of Homeland Security to remove 122 individuals to China on June 3, 2025, from detention facilities across the country. The group included individuals convicted of serious crimes such as murder, drug trafficking, and human smuggling. Jimmy Friesenhahn, a 44-year-old Marine Corps veteran, remains hospitalized after being shot three times by Wilmer Vladimir Ruiz Ortega at a San Antonio sports bar in May. His family criticized the Bexar County district attorney for leniency on crime, noting that Ortega had been arrested and released multiple times without immigration holds despite being in the country illegally. Friesenhahn was left paralyzed and unable to speak following the shooting.

Raul Velasco-Leon, 39, pleaded guilty on June 17 to transportation of child sexual abuse material following an investigation by ICE Homeland Security Investigations Laredo with assistance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. According to court documents, Velasco-Leon was stopped at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge on March 12 while traveling from Tennessee, where agents discovered multiple electronic devices containing child sexual abuse material of minor victims approximately 10 years of age. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a possible $250,000 fine at sentencing.

Three former Fort Hood soldiers were sentenced to federal prison for alien smuggling following an ICE El Paso investigation. According to court documents, Enrique Jauregui, 26, organized a smuggling event in 2024, recruiting fellow soldiers Angel Palma, 21, and Emilio Mendoza-Lopez, 22, providing them location information to pick up illegal aliens, supporting them with instructions, and intending to pay them after delivery.

ICE Houston deported 142 criminal aliens to Mexico over a two-week period, a group that collectively carried 473 criminal convictions and had illegally entered the United States 480 times. Among those removed were 8 gang members, 11 convicted child predators, and one criminal alien who had illegally entered the U.S. 21 times. The deportations were announced June 3, 2025.

On June 1, ICE received a tip from an anonymous caller reporting that multiple illegal aliens were being harbored at a residence in Mercedes, Texas. ICE contacted the Mercedes Police Department, which conducted a welfare check, and authorities spoke to the owner of the property who admitted to harboring approximately 16 individuals inside the home. The discovery led to the arrest of 16 illegal aliens by ICE Rio Grande Valley.
