A Nigerian national and his American wife were sentenced to 15 and 10 years in prison respectively for operating a nationwide romance scam targeting vulnerable populations. The pair defrauded over 25 victims of more than $3 million through fake online relationships and fictitious business schemes. HSI Houston’s investigation dismantled the operation, with the defendants ordered to pay full restitution and serve additional supervised release terms.
