The Hopewell Sheriff's Office has entered into a partnership with Immigration and Customs Enforcement that allows deputies to act as federal immigration agents, making it the only jurisdiction in Central Virginia to sign such an agreement.
Special agents from ICE Homeland Security Investigations working in partnership with officers from the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department arrested an illegal 35-year-old Mexican alien who was previously charged with sex crimes against a Virginia child. Agents and officers arrested David Perez-Teofani, 35, near the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Aug. 20.
