The First Amendment

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

The First Amendment to the Constitution provides American citizens with five freedoms that are the hallmark of American liberty. It simply and unequivocally protects religious liberty for people of all faiths, freedom of speech by individuals and the press, freedom to meet and assemble, and the right of the people to petition their government.

Protecting all aspect of these liberties, and the Constitutional itself, is the primary mission of American Constitutional Rights Union.

Each Constitutional freedom is under attack by the American left’s activist class and their partners in media, “Big Tech,” and government. It is incumbent on every liberty-loving patriot to first understand the fundamentals of these rights and how they are being perverted and ignored in light of the latest wave of unconstitutional laws and actions by oppressive liberals seeking to create for themselves a permanent progressive power base.

The United States Constitution is the mechanism whereby “We the People” hold government accountable and prevent it from limiting our individual and economic liberty. The Founding Fathers created a system of law for the American people and their government to follow regardless of changes in societal structure, culture and the economy.

The Founders drew from many influences, including the works of English jurist William Blackstone and his presentation of the moral law and religious values and their importance to governance and legal systems. Not only is the Constitution anchored in the rule of law, but moral order also lives boldly within its wording.

The Constitution stands firm in its protections, and must never be abrogated and used as the handmaiden of any political agenda. Today, the Constitution faces new 21st century threats — unconstitutional laws are written to diminish the integrity of citizen votes and the role of states to set voting procedures, and social media’s Big Tech giants are colluding with some officials to censor anyone who does not agree with their leftist agenda.

Through educational projects and quantifiable advocacy plans, ACRU will always stand firm to ensure Constitutional liberty is preserved for generations to come.

Allen West: Everyone and Everything Is Racist….if You Disagree With the Left

During the 2020 election cycle, Joe Biden made the abhorrent claim that being Black was contingent upon voting for him. He infamously asserted, "if you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black." Doggone, what shall I list as my ethnicity on my ATF Form 4473 the next time I go to purchase a firearm, as a law-abiding citizen? The new line of attack for the progressive socialist left in America is to denigrate anyone and everything as racist. It is what we are witnessing as cultural Marxism manifests in absurdities such as critical race theory and equity programs. To the left, it is simple, divide America into two categories, oppressors and oppressed.

Hans von Spakovsky: YouTube Censors Strike Again for No Good Reason, Then Do About-Face

YouTube’s censors have struck again, removing a podcast discussing election integrity that it claims violates its “misinformation policy.”The podcast, hosted by Jacob Kersey, was an interview of me at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Florida, in February 2021 and had been on YouTube for more than a year before it was suddenly taken down.YouTube never responded to Kersey’s appeal of the ban, but a day after Douglas Blair wrote about the censorship in The Daily Signal, the video suddenly reappeared on the website. Kersey says he received no explanation from YouTube for its actions.

Allen West: A Bridge Too Far, the Demise of the Democrats

If you are a student of history, you will recognize the title of this missive. If you are not, let me explain. After the successful landings in Normandy the Allies began pushing through the hedgerows and set their sights on crossings into Germany. One of the plans, offered by British General Montgomery, was to spearhead a combined airborne and ground assault through the Netherlands and cross the Rhine River into northern Germany. The operation was to be called Market (Airborne) Garden (Ground). It was to be the largest airborne operation ever known and it pulled together US and British Airborne forces who were to seize critical bridges along a singular route enabling the British Armored XXX Corps to push through.

Race and American Exceptionalism

This past Thursday evening at the University of Buffalo (UB) I was invited by the Young America's Foundation Chapter at UB to deliver a presentation on “Race and American Exceptionalism.”  Before I even arrived, the nature of my visit was made controversial when students on the campus ripped down flyers and even conducted a campus walking protest. Therefore, I knew this would be quite the hostile environment. The question I have is, why?

The Left Strikes Again at Freedom of Speech in Akron, Ohio — Election Integrity is “Off Limits”

The League of Women Voters took issue with the Roundtable inviting me to speak. Its local chapter president, Rosanne Winter, sent the Roundtable a letter expressing the group’s “strong disappointment,” and protesting my choice as a speaker. The Roundtable should select “respected speakers,” said the League, by which it clearly means only those who don’t disagree with the League.

Press Release: ACRU Fights Relentless Attack on Personal Freedom of Religious Expression

The American Constitutional Rights Union filed an amicus brief in support of Coach Joe Kennedy, who lost his teaching job because he knelt and said a quiet prayer by himself after a football game ended. The Ninth Circuit noted that, because Coach Kennedy taught and coached football at a public high school, his prayer was government speech that has no First Amendment protection and that, even if his prayer was private, the City would violate the Establishment Clause if it allowed the prayer to continue.
