ACLU Loses, Common Sense Wins, in Voter ID Case

By |2020-04-23T21:53:04-04:00April 28th, 2008|

By a vote of 6-3, the US Supreme Court has upheld the Indiana Voter ID Law, which required voters there to establish who they are and that they are legal residents of Indiana before they vote. Similar laws have been passed in several other states. The ACLU has been fighting such laws in many jurisdictions, because the ACLU believes in open borders for illegal aliens, who can get drivers licenses and even register to vote, absent such laws.

Horace Cooper: Child Rapists

By |2008-04-25T17:09:29-04:00April 25th, 2008|

The United States Supreme Court last week heard oral arguments about an issue which for many Americans shouldn't be too complicated. The question is: who should decide the punishment for a crime, the legislature or the courts? In particular, when determining what crimes merit the death penalty, should state governments have a say or should this power be left to judges? According to the Death Penalty Information Center (as of February of this year) there are more than 3,200 persons on death row. As the result of the execrable actions of Louisiana resident Patrick Kennedy (one of only two on death row awaiting execution for crimes that don't involve murder), the court will issue a ruling this summer in a case called Kennedy v. Louisiana.

Ken Blackwell: You Don't Have a Prayer

One issue that is not being discussed much at the moment is what's at stake with our federal courts. Some federal judges are now telling pastors and priests what they can and cannot say during prayers. And some of it is happening in Indiana -- the May 6 primary state.

ACLU Assault on National Motto, Fails Again

By |2008-04-22T10:48:08-04:00April 22nd, 2008|

The facts for this article, but not the legal conclusions, come from an article on Fox News on April 18.

“In God We Trust” is the official Motto of the United States. It appears on coins and bills produced by the Treasury. It is also the motto of Florida, where it is also under attack by the ACLU. The first appearance of that slogan in public is in the fourth stanza of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which has also been officially adopted, as the National Anthem.

In many state and federal courts, the ACLU has launched attacks on the use of this motto […]

ACLU: Hobble War Effort with Partisan Politics

By |2008-04-15T12:32:53-04:00April 15th, 2008|

The ACLU has called on Congress to “demand the appointment of an Independent Counsel” to investigate the “approval of the use of torture” by the Bush Administration. The claimed facts are unsourced. And compared to the ACLU’s silence during Democrat Administrations, this attack is nothing more than partisan politics masquerading as protection of the Constitution.

The facts for this article should be taken with a grain of salt, since they come from the ACLU’s own website. The legal conclusions are, of course, developed for this website, for the American Civil Rights Union.

The ACLU issued a press release on 12 April, calling […]

ACLU Aiding America's Enemies, Again

By |2008-04-08T13:37:21-04:00April 8th, 2008|

The ACLU, the Criminal Defense Lawyers, and Janet Reno (former Clinton Attorney General) have joined forces to turn the military trials of some of America’s most dedicated enemies, into media circuses with a maximum of delays.

The facts for this article, but not the legal conclusions, come from an article published by military.com, from the Miami Herald on 8 April, 2006.

The ACLU has launched a $8.5 million dollar effort to provide what are supposed to be “top notch” private counsel for the illegal enemy combatants facing military tribunals at Guantanamo Bay. Among those to be provided this assistance is the man who has, […]

Teacher Testing in Massachusetts, Biased Against Incompetence

By |2008-04-07T10:12:53-04:00April 7th, 2008|

The Massachusetts Senate is considering waivers for teachers who fail the teacher licensing exam three times in a row. This is despite the fact that the test has been dumbed down to the 10th grade level. In some states, such tests have been discarded or avoided because the ACLU says they “discriminate.” They do discriminate – against incompetent teachers.
