Whew. Liberals are breathing a sigh of relief after the Associated Press released a poll this past week showing that Tea Partiers are out of step with the rest of America. Doctrinaire liberal: “We just knew those people were wacko. Now we have proof.”

Another doctrinaire liberal: “Thank goodness for polls like this and a reliable outlet like AP, or Sarah Palin and her backwoods family might yet dance their way right into the White House.”

The American Civil Rights Union filed an amicus curiae brief on November 19 in the Federal District Court in the Northern District of Florida in the case of State of Florida, et al. v. U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services supporting 20 states who have joined in that lawsuit seeking to strike down Obamacare as unconstitutional. The brief argued that the delegated, enumerated power in the Commerce Clause to regulate interstate commerce does not include compelling participation in interstate commerce by requiring purchase of government designated products and services by those who otherwise choose not to do so. The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled 4-2 on Thursday that a provision in the state Constitution providing for recall of all elected officials, including Congressmen and U.S. Senators, was unconstitutional, overruling a unanimous lower court decision..

The campaign to criminalize America’s response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks continues apace.

The ACLU is calling on the Justice Department to investigate George W. Bush over his just-released memoir Decision Points, in which the former president says he ordered al-Qaeda suspects waterboarded in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

The Nov. 11, 2010 letter, signed by ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero, states that waterboarding is “torture” and notes that Bush says it was used on terror suspects Abu Zubaydah and self-confessed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.
