United States Secures Extradition of More Than a Dozen Fugitives from 10 Countries

The United States secured the extraditions of alleged murderers, a child rapist, an MS-13 leader, an alien smuggler, drug traffickers, a cybercriminal, a fraudster, and an immigration scammer through coordination with law enforcement authorities in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Among those extradited was Eswin Mejia, wanted for the 2016 vehicular homicide of 21-year-old Sarah Root in Nebraska, and Rigoberto Ramon Miranda-Orozco, an alleged leader of a Guatemala-based alien smuggling organization connected to the deadly June 2022 San Antonio mass casualty incident.
