United States Secures Extradition of More Than a Dozen Fugitives from 10 Countries

The U.S. Department of Justice coordinated with law enforcement across ten nations to extradite 14 fugitives facing charges ranging from murder, child sexual abuse, and MS-13 gang leadership to cybercrime, drug trafficking, and immigration fraud. Among the notable cases was Eswin Mejia, extradited from Honduras for the 2016 vehicular homicide of 21-year-old Sarah Root in Nebraska, and Moises Humberto Rivera Luna, an alleged international MS-13 leader extradited from Guatemala. The extraditions involved coordination with Colombia, the Dominican Republic, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
