Summary of Incident: Migrant found in Dimmit County; Dies from Environmental Exposure

On September 20, 2024, Dimmit County 911 received a call from a person reporting a traveling companion who had become unresponsive and was convulsing in a remote area approximately 43.6 miles southwest of the Eagle Pass Port of Entry. Border Patrol agents located the two individuals, immediately applied ice packs, and a BPA emergency medical technician established an IV line while awaiting EMS, which transported the man to Dimmit Regional Hospital and later to a San Antonio intensive care unit. On October 1, 2024, medical personnel pronounced the man, a citizen of Mexico, deceased; CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility is reviewing the incident.
