Juan Carlos Padilla Santos, a Dominican national, was sentenced to 100 months in federal prison after being discovered to have illegally reentered the United States following two prior deportations. Padilla Santos has a criminal history that includes murder and narcotics possession convictions, and investigators determined he had at one point attempted to fake his own death. The case was developed following an investigation by ICE New York.
