Bass Ndiaye, a Senegalese national, was charged after allegedly grabbing scissors and attempting to stab ICE officers and detainees at a federal immigration facility in New York City on July 17, 2025. Ndiaye had been arrested at the southern border in October 2023 but was subsequently released into the interior of the United States under Biden-era policies. The Department of Homeland Security cited the case as an example of the dangers posed by interior release practices.
