Mexican Man Pleads Guilty to Being an Aggravated Felon Found in the United States Illegally

Jose De Jesus Mejia-Fraijo, a Mexican citizen, pleaded guilty in federal court in Sioux City, Iowa to being an aggravated felon found in the United States after illegal reentry. Iowa State Patrol arrested Mejia-Fraijo for driving without a valid license and interference with official acts after a brief foot chase. Prior to his last removal in 2022, he had been convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
