Iowa Lawsuit Says Sheriff Discouraged Compliance with Immigration Law

Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird sued Winneshiek County Sheriff Dan Marx over a Facebook post in which he told constituents he shares their concerns about how federal immigration agents conduct business and that requests to hold individuals without a court order are constitutional rights violations. Bird argued the claims impeded and discouraged cooperation with federal immigration authorities, which is against Iowa law.
