Von Spakovsky: Efforts to bar reelection bids are unconstitutional

By |2023-03-06T11:56:12-05:00March 27th, 2022|

The effort to have members of Congress barred from having their names on ballots based on claims that they participated in an “insurrection” on Jan. 6 or objected to electoral votes should fail. Congress permanently eliminated the insurrection disqualification in the 14th Amendment in amnesty acts that are still in force today, and the objections to the electoral votes were filed in accordance with federal law. All of these efforts and threats are a desperate attempt to gain political advantage through unconstitutional actions. They are a waste of time and resources and should be dismissed as such.

Von Spakovsky: Media Attacks Florida’s Governor for Proposing to Go After Election Crimes

By |2023-03-06T11:59:11-05:00February 2nd, 2022|

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has a good idea with his budget proposal to create an “election crimes agency” that would “investigate election crimes and irregularities and make referrals for further legal action directly to a statewide prosecutor.” Florida should implement it, and other states should follow. In fact, state legislators should make sure that a statewide prosecutor’s office has jurisdiction to prosecute all such election cases, especially when local prosecutors fail to act.

Von Spakovsky: Another Bill to Give Partisan Bureaucrats Control Over State Election Laws

By |2023-03-06T12:06:22-05:00May 29th, 2021|

One of the false narratives constantly pushed by liberals is that the efforts of states to reform and fix vulnerabilities in their election systems are somehow examples of “voter suppression.” Nothing could be further from the truth. Making sure that every eligible citizen is able to vote and that their vote is not lost or stolen through fraud or errors is not voter suppression—it is good governance.

ACRU’s von Spakovsky: HR1/For the People Act imperils free and fair elections

By |2023-03-06T12:06:46-05:00March 15th, 2021|

H.R. 1, the deceptively entitled "For the People Act," has arrived in the U.S. Senate after a party-line vote in the House of Representatives. It is without doubt the most dangerous and irresponsible election bill I have ever seen. If it becomes law, it will interfere with the ability of states and their citizens to determine the qualifications and eligibility of voters, to ensure the accuracy and validity of voter registration rolls, to secure the integrity of elections, and to participate and speak freely in the political arena.

ACRU’s Von Spakovsky: Biden’s immigration order – this is how policy will hide crimes, ignore victims

By |2023-03-06T12:06:46-05:00March 8th, 2021|

On his first day in the Oval Office, President Biden signed a record 17 executive orders, many of them voiding commonsense policies enacted during the Trump administration. One of the worst – and most dangerous – was his "Revision of Civil Immigration Enforcement Policies and Priorities." A more apt title would be "Providing Sanctuary for Criminal Aliens."

ACRU’s von Spakovsky: Media ignores vote fraud because they know it’s real

By |2023-03-06T12:07:57-05:00November 3rd, 2020|

Writing for The Heritage Foundation, ACRU Policy Advisor Hans von Spakovsky calls out the media for its coverup of a giant problem — vote fraud. With examples past and present, Hans makes the case that the media is deliberately ignoring the truth about fraud and vote theft. He identifies outright lies by the media. “Journalists” may try to wish vote fraud away, but the rest of us know better.

ACRU’s Spakovsky: List of proven vote fraud cases continues to grow

By |2023-03-06T12:10:11-05:00June 13th, 2020|

The Heritage Foundation keeps a record of proven, prosecuted cases of vote fraud in the United States. In May, the case number reached 1,285. Most cases have numerous fraud victims, making each a force multiplier for stolen votes. In the last ten years, there are have been at least eight cases where a candidate won with fewer than 17 votes - three where the margin was one vote. Vote fraud is real, and it matters.
